About Me

My photo
Welcome to my blog. This blog was here to give my parents and friends an opportunity to take a peek into our classroom. There is no place on earth sweeter, louder and more lively than the world of first graders.Although I no longer teach first grade I wanted to keep my blog to remind me of my final year at E.R. Dickson and the wonderful children who shared it with me. Enjoy!

Blessings

Carpool is always a fun time. I especially love sitting near the kindergardeners while I listen intently as the other teacher radios the names to me for me to announce on the bullhorn. It's not a pretty sound and it's quite boring for someone with an attention problem. So, I try to get stories from the little ones to brighten my day. It was Monday and the little kids were quieter than usual. I guess they had a rough weekend. Anyway whatever the reason they were quiet enough for the other teacher to listen to little ones as they shared stories and concerns with her. She knows how much I love a good chuckle so brought this precious little boy over to me and said, "David, tell Ms. Shrop what we can never do at this school". He looked at me with his beautiful dark eyes and said, we tan not say "dod our fadder". "what??" I said with quite a puzzled look on my face. Once again he said, "we tan not say dod our fadder". He must have seen that I still didn't understand so he said, "you know, dod our fadder, dod our fadder, once adin, once adin. Tank you for our blessings , tank you for our blessings. ah ah men ah ah men. See we tan not say de blessing here." My heart melted and I wished and prayed that one day we could make David a happy little boy and say "dod our fadder" before we eat. Out of the mouths of babes...
